Kern County, southern San Joaquin Valley BAKERSFIELD AREA CATFISH DERBY: Bob's Bait is having a month-long catfish derby with the largest cat weighed in during July winning a $100 cash prize. The current lead is Jose Vidal, Bakersfield, with a 23-pounder caught from the aqueduct on chicken liver. The catfish derby will be followed by a striper derby in August.
